Why I Built VOUS
I built VOUS because I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere else.
Not just in fashion — in myself.
For seventeen years I worked as a clinical psychologist. I sat with women every day who were quietly exhausted — carrying invisible weight, holding everything together on the outside while feeling increasingly disconnected on the inside. I understood that feeling intimately. Not just professionally. Personally.
Because while I was building a career in psychology, I was also making things. Sewing. Creating. Quietly longing for something I couldn't quite name.
At thirty, I finally listened to that longing. Everyone around me said it wasn't practical. That the travel to Sydney to study fashion design was too much, too risky, too late. I went anyway.
The moment I walked into The Fashion Design Studio, I felt like I'd come home.
When I left fashion school, I knew one thing clearly:
I wanted to create a brand that was entirely about the woman wearing the clothes. Not the trend. Not the season. Not the industry. Her.
That's why I named it VOUS. You, in French. Because it was always about you.
What I didn't understand then — and only began to see as I moved into my forties — is that psychology and fashion were never two separate parts of me. They were always the same path.
All those years sitting with women in a consulting room, I was watching how they carried themselves. How they described feeling invisible, disconnected from their bodies, overwhelmed by decisions that should have felt simple. And I began to notice something that science actually supports: when we simplify our external environment, something shifts internally. The nervous system settles. Decision fatigue lifts. A woman begins to feel more like herself again.
Your wardrobe is part of your environment. What you place on your body each morning either adds to the noise — or creates a moment of steadiness before the day begins.
VOUS was built on that understanding.
Every piece is designed and made in Sydney, Australia in small, considered runs using natural, breathable fabrics. No trend cycles. No synthetic shortcuts. No excess.
Just clothing that moves with you, works together effortlessly, and reminds you — quietly, every single day — that you are worth coming home to.
This isn't slow fashion for fashion's sake. It's a physical expression of a single belief: that when a woman feels grounded in what she wears, she moves through her world differently.
Calmer. Clearer. More herself.
VOUS. Come home to yourself.
